Anger Over Uri As Strong As In '65: Modi
Army Will
Foil All Such Designs With Its Bravery'
Prime
Minister Narendra Modi compared the anger in the country over the Uri attack to
that witnessed in the 1965 war with Pakistan and assured the country that the
perpetrators would definitely be punished. He also said the Army does not speak
but displays bravery .
In his
monthly radio programme `Mann Ki Baat' on Sunday, Modi reminded people that the
then PM Lal Bahadur Shastri had given the slogan `Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan' during
the surcharged atmosphere of the 1965 war and this inspired common people to
work for the country .
Referring
to a message he received from a Class 11 student who expressed anger over the
Uri attack and wanted to do something constructive, the PM said, “There is a
lot of value to the anger that people of the country have. This is a symbol of
the country's awakening. When the 1965 war (with Pakistan) broke out and Lal
Bahadur Shastri was leading the country , similar was the feeling, anger in the
country .“
“There
was an intense feeling of nationalism. Everybody was keen to do something. At
that time, Lal Bahadur Shastriji attempted to represent this feeling in an
excellent manner. He gave the slogan of `Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan' to inspire
common people to work for the country ,“ he added.
Beginning
his address by paying tributes to the 18 soldiers who died in the Uri attack,
Modi said, “This cowardly act was enough to shake the entire country . There is
mourning as well as anger in the country .“
Reposing
faith in the Army , the PM said it would foil all such designs through its
bravery. “They (Indian Army men) are the people who take brav ery to its
pinnacle so that 125 crore people can live a peaceful life. We are proud of our
Army .People and politicians get opportunities to speak and that's what they
do. But the Army does not speak. The Army displays its bravery ,“ he said.
Seeking
to send a message to people in J&K, he said, “We all know that peace, unity
and harmony are the ways to solve our problems and also to ensure our progress
and development... I am confident that we will resolve all issues together
through discussions and jointly lay the track for the future generations of
Kashmir.“
Meanwhile,
AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi came out in support of Modi saying, “We're all
together on the call of PM Modi... Hindustan is our country. Our neighbour
(Pakistan) should think of itself rather than interfere in our matters.“
Samjhauta

sources said on Sunday that Samjhauta Express, which connects India and
Pakistan, was likely to run late because of labour issues. The development
follows reports that the government may suspend the Express as well as the
Lahore bus service in the wake of the Uri attack.Government sources said news
of the delay had been conveyed by the railway ministry to Pakistan. “Our
railway ministry has said Samjhauta will run but a bit delayed,“ a source
added.A bi-weekly train, Samjhauta Express was scheduled to leave for Delhi
