Pak closes air space over northern areas
Flights
Called Off For `Warplanes To Practise'
Amid
escalating tension with India after the Uri terror attack, Pakistan has imposed
restrictions on its airspace and cancelled all flights to the nothern areas of
the country , which include parts of Kashmir under its control.
On
Wednesday , the staterun Pakistan International Airlines said it had cancelled
all flights to the region for the day following closure of airspace by the
country's civil aviation authority .
While the
official reason behind the closure of airspace was not specified, sources said
the decision was taken as Pakistan's warplanes were engaged in take-off and
landing rehearsals amid threats from India.
The
terror attack, which claimed 18 lives, has sharply dented the shaky ties
between the two nuclear-armed rivals.
