Teacher's killers nabbed in 12 hrs
One Of
Them 18 Yrs Old, Other A Month Short Of Turning Adult
It took
just 12 hours after the stabbing of a school teacher to death in Nangloi for
police to track the two students accused of the crime. On Tuesday, Delhi Police
arrested one of them and detained the other, a minor, for the murder in west
Delhi. Both are Class XII students. One is 18 years and seven months old, while
the second student is a month short of turning 18.
Mukesh
Kumar, teacher at Government Boys' Senior Secondary School, Sultanpuri Road,
was attacked by the duo on Monday evening while he was examining some answer
sheets. The two scaled the school boundary wall, entered the classroom and
stabbed Kumar three times.
“We have
recovered the weapon of offence, that is, the knife, and blood-stained
clothes,“ said Depender Pathak, joint commissioner (Southwest). “We will ensure
that the accused get the strictest punishment under the law.“
The
investigators said that the boys had bought the knife in Nangloi while planning
their plan. After the crime, they were idling away their time around Nithari
Lake and Begampur in the vicinity when the cops reached them.
The
youngster who was arrested was produced before a magistrate before police took
him into custody for two days. The juvenile has been sent to a reformation
home. The cops have not revealed the identity of the older boy.
When the
police control room received a call on September 26 about the stabbing of a
teacher at the school, a sub-inspector and his team reached the spot and found
blood scattered near the main gate and inside Room 108. The vice-principal had
taken the injured Kumar to Balaji Action Hospital in Paschim Vihar, where he
died during the course of emergency medical treatment.
After
registering an FIR at Nangloi police station, according to Pathak, teams led by
ACP Anand Sagar and SHO (Nangloi) Sunil Kumar conducted raids through Monday
night, and were able to apprehend the youngsters early on Tuesday morning from
near their house.
The
vice-principal said that the two students were unruly in their ways and Kumar
often pulled them up.They frequently absented themselves from classes. One of
them had even been rusticated from school on account of his poor attendance.
The steps
taken by Kumar had angered the boys and they plotted to teach their teacher a
lesson.
